When the Moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius

So begins Milos Forman’s masterpiece, Hair. The movie originates in the late 70s and is an outstanding visionary of the times we live in now. The storyline goes around the Vietnam War, but the deeper layers suggest the idea of the shift to a more humanitarian social and political pattern. And we should be grateful to be on Earth and have the unique chance to witness the transition to this New Age.

SHIFTING fROM PISCES TO AQUARIUS

The Earth’s axis of rotation moves and makes one complete revolution in about 26 000 years. Over time, the point at which the Earth’s axis intersects the celestial sphere, known as the vernal equinox, shifts relative to the stars. The reason for this phenomenon is the gravitation of the Sun and Moon, which causes the Earth’s axis to wobble. This rocking causes the vernal equinox to move across the sky in a process called precession of the equinoxes.

Each year, the precession point of the vernal equinox on March 21 moves backward relative to the Zodiac (ecliptic). This point is currently in the Pisces zodiac constellation, whereas 18 centuries ago, it was in Aries. Every two thousand years, the vernal equinox moves backward into the neighboring zodiac constellation. It is now traveling from Pisces to Aquarius, so we observe the stars of the Pisces constellation on March 21. Because of these astronomical factors, astrological ages change over 2000 years. And that change drives historical development on Earth and every person on it.

Astrologers claim that astrological ages (such as the Pisces and Aquarius) begin at the same time as astronomical ages (such as the precession of the equinoxes). However, there is no exact date when this change from Pisces to Aquarius will occur. It is a gradual process that takes thousands of years. The Age of Aquarius in astrology relies on a 2000-year cycle. So the exact beginning and end of the age is a subject of debate and speculation among astrologers. Some believe that the Age of Aquarius began in the 20th century, while others argue it will only happen in a few centuries. It is noteworthy that the idea of astrological ages is not a scientific concept recognized by mainstream astronomy.

THE TRAITS OF AQUARIUS

Each zodiacal constellation creates conditions for awakening its aspirations and mastering certain qualities. Aquarius is an air sign associated with independence, innovation, and a desire for freedom. Those born under this sign are creative, unconventional thinkers with a passion for Science and Technology and a friendly, sociable nature. Unpredictable and quirky, they often surprise others with their unique perspectives and ideas.

Aquarian enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life. They are attracted to those who share their progressive, unconventional, and open-minded views. On the opposite side, Aquarian people value their independence and freedom and even can become detached.

In terms of collective, the Age of Aquarius embodies the traits of humanitarianism, individualism, innovative thinking, and a move away from traditional authority and rigid social structures. Rapid technology development gives personal freedom, the ability to share multiple resources on the web, and limitless opportunities to express ourselves.

Expanding our understanding of the world

Modern astrology considers Uranus as the planetary ruler of Aquarius (while traditional astrology considers Saturn). Uranus is referred to as an innovative planet because of its unique characteristics and its role in expanding our understanding of the solar system. A tilted axis of rotation for Uranus differs from the other planets in our solar system. Because of this unusual tilt, Uranus experiences extreme seasonal changes and long periods of daylight or darkness at the poles. The scientific community was surprised by this discovery, as it challenged our understanding of how planets form and develop.

Uranus was the first planet discovered using a telescope by the British astronomer William Herschel in 1781. Such a crucial scientific breakthrough at the time has expanded our understanding of the solar system beyond what was known. Uranus has a system of 27 known moons and a faint ring system. Researchers believe moons formed from debris left over from a massive impact with a large object. The discovery of these moons and the ring system added to our knowledge of the diversity and complexity of the solar system. In 1986, a Voyager craft flew by the planet. Collected data revealed new insights into the planet’s atmosphere, magnetic field, rings, and moons.

Moving into a new era

The concept of the Age of Aquarius is a spiritual and astrological idea, suggesting that the world is moving into a new era marked by social and cultural change and increased spiritual awakening. Life is becoming increasingly complex. Everything is happening much faster while we have less time. Therefore, we need to integrate the spiritual side of life with the technological and material side to find meaning and significance in what happens to us.

The Age of Aquarius is often associated with a new paradigm of thinking and behavior, emphasizing creativity, innovation, and spirituality. We need more love and community because fear and insecurity are challenging to overcome without support. Our every action must be conscious, as it directly or indirectly affects a vast network of people, living beings, and places. Therefore, it is not surprising that people globally seek change in ecology, economics, and political patterns. This new era will renew our focus on environmental sustainability, social justice, and equality. Also, there will be a shift from hierarchical power structures to more collaborative and cooperative governance.

Some spiritual and New Age thinkers believe that the Age of Aquarius will bring about a “spiritual awakening” for humanity, marked by an increased interest in mysticism, spirituality, and alternative healing modalities. They also suggest that the Age of Aquarius will shift from materialism to a greater emphasis on living in harmony with nature. It is worth mentioning that the Age of Aquarius is a spiritual and astrological concept, not accepted or supported by all individuals or communities. However, it remains an exciting and thought-provoking concept for many interested in spirituality and the expanded human consciousness.

  1. Thanks for the reminder! Hair is an inspiring movie with great music. I watch it at least once a year and I cry just like you. I try to let the sun shine inside, but it gets harder with age.
    Greetings!

    1. Thank you for the nice feedback! It warmed my heart:)
