“I Don’t Believe in Astrology. I’m a Sagittarius, and We’re Very Skeptical!”Arthur C. Clarke

Astrology is an ancient science of mathematics, astronomy, psychology, and mysticism. Blending of self-knowledge and self-improvement.

I came across a friend’s post on Facebook who had shared a funny meme about astrology. As a caption, he wrote that even though he considers the notion of zodiacs as shallow one; the meme is true to life. Like this friend, many people look at their daily horoscope and tell themselves that astrology wastes time. They believe five sentences cannot sum up the day of all the people in the world. And this is right. Popular horoscopes only pay attention to our Sun sign, a single part of the puzzle.

CELESTIAL FINGERPRINT

Each of us has our unique natal chart. That is our celestial fingerprint, reflecting the placement of the heavenly bodies at birth. But when we first look at our natal chart, it seems puzzling. Even armed with all the tools at hand, symbols, and keywords, we are unlikely to know where to start, to make sense of it, and to understand what it tells us.

Let’s start with the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant in our natal chart. The Sun sign is our zodiac sign that shows our traits and mission in life. We choose how to navigate them to fulfill that mission. The Ascendant is the rising sign at birth and signifies our physical appearance and awakening consciousness. If the Sun sign represents what we are learning to become in this lifetime, then the rising sign can be seen as the most direct route our Sun sign will use to learn these lessons. The Moon sets out our instincts and emotional world. For example, if someone is an Aries, and they wonder why they keep compromising—something atypical for this zodiac sign — they have the Moon in Libra or Pisces. And the combination of the elements of the different signs – Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) and Water (Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio) determine our temperament.

ASTROLOGY AND THE PUZZLE GAME OF LIFE

Another dominant element is the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Planetary placements and aspects in the houses and the zodiac signs of the natal chart, according to the day, time, and place of birth, determine their impact on the main areas of our lives – personal development, love, partnerships, career, talents, and so on.

Another crucial element of the birth chart is the lunar nodes. These are the two points where the ecliptic of the Sun and the orbit of the Moon intersect. The North and South lunar nodes are always 180 degrees apart and fall in opposite signs. If the North lunar node is in Capricorn, the South one will be in Cancer. The lunar nodes move opposite to the motion of the planets, and when they coincide with a New Moon or Full Moon, a Solar or Lunar Eclipse occurs. In astrology, the North node embodies the qualities we need to develop in this lifetime, while the South node – those we have already mastered. It’s all printed down in our natal chart.

Astrology is an ancient science that combines mathematics, astronomy, psychology, and mysticism. It is a blend of self-knowledge and self-improvement. If we dig into astrology and study our natal chart, we will arrange the puzzle of our journey through this life. Apart from that, we will find out how perfect and logical is the entire Universe. Or, as we also call it, God.
